A keychain is touched dozens of times a day — locked in a car, dropped on a counter, pulled from a bag. It is one of the most ordinary objects in a pocket, which is exactly why it is such a quiet, powerful place to carry someone you love. This piece lets you build that exactly: you choose what goes on the front and back of the disc, and which charms hangs alongside it.

The pendant is a stainless steel round disc, laser-engraved on both sides with up to two design elements each — chosen from five options: your pet’s portrait, their paw print, their name, a year, or a short message. Add two charms from our four available styles. Available in silver and gold. No two pieces are the same.

Build your design

Each side of the disc holds up to two elements. Choose from the five options below — any combination, any order. Then select your charms.

Your five design elements:

• Pet portrait — your pet’s face, engraved from a photo you send us. Forward-facing, well-lit portrait preferred. Pet portrait can only be paired up with pet name or year.
• Pet name — up to 15 letters, engraved in clean lettering.
• Paw print — your pet’s actual paw, engraved from a paw print photo or paw pad photo you send us. Paw print can only be paired up with pet name or year.
• Year — any single year, engraved across the disc.
• Short message — up to 45 characters of your choosing.

Example combinations:

• Front: pet portrait + name  /  Back: paw print + year
• Front: portrait  /  Back: message + year
• Front: paw print + name  /  Back: short message

What to send before checkout

1. Your front and back design choices — tell us which 2 elements go on the front and which on the back.
2. If you chose pet portrait — a clear photo of your pet
   JPG or PNG, minimum 800 × 800 px. A forward-facing portrait in natural light works best. Not sure if yours will work? Send it to us first — we will let you know before anything is engraved.
3. If you chose paw print — a clear photo of your pet’s paw print
   Press your pet’s paw onto a clean white piece of paper using a non-toxic ink pad, then photograph straight-on in natural light. See the photo tips below.
4. Your pet’s name, year, and/or short message — include the exact text for any of these elements. Double-check spelling — we engrave exactly what you send.
5. Your charm choice — confirm which charm you selected: Dog Bone · Paw Print · Big Heart · Small Heart
   The color of the charms will be the same as the pendant color you chose

Photo tips

For pet portrait: A forward-facing photo where your pet’s face is well-lit and unobstructed gives the clearest engraving. Phone photos in natural daylight are usually perfect. If you are unsure whether yours will work, send it before ordering — we will let you know.

For paw print: Press your pet’s paw gently onto a clean white piece of paper using a non-toxic washable ink pad, then photograph the impression straight-on in natural light. If your pet will not cooperate, a clear photo of the underside of their paw pad also works. Avoid blurry or angled shots, or prints where toes are partially obscured.

If your pet has passed and you no longer have them to photograph: An older photo of their face or paw pad, or a previous ink or clay paw print impression photographed clearly, can often work well. Send us what you have and we will tell you what is possible before you order.

Materials and making

The keyring and round disc pendant are both stainless steel — resistant to tarnish, durable enough for daily use in a pocket or bag. All engraving is laser-cut directly into the metal surface, not printed or coated, so the portrait, name, and any other elements will not fade or scratch away with normal wear. The charm are fitted by hand and attached to the keyring alongside the disc. Everything is assembled in Calgary, one piece at a time.

Size

The disc pendant is approximately 30 mm in diameter. It sits comfortably alongside a key set without adding significant bulk. The charms hang from the same keyring, adding a small amount of movement. The total weight is light enough that you will not notice it in a pocket.

To keep your keychain looking its best: wipe the disc with a dry soft cloth after heavy use, and avoid prolonged exposure to water or harsh cleaning products — the stainless steel is resilient.

Questions about this piece

Can I really put any two elements on each side?
Yes, any combination from the five options — portrait, paw print, name, year, or short message — up to two per side. The only thing we ask is that you tell us clearly which elements go on which side when you reply to your order email, so we can lay out the engraving to fit well. If a particular combination feels tight for the disc size, we will tell you in the proof before we engrave.

I want the same thing on both sides. Is that possible?
Yes. You can choose the same element or combination for front and back. Some customers prefer a portrait on one side and a paw print on the other; others want the name on both. Just let us know your preference in the order email.

How do I choose a charm?
There is no wrong answer. If you would like a recommendation — tell us and we will suggest something that suits them.

How detailed will a portrait look on a keychain disc?
The disc is approximately 30 mm across. The engraving captures the overall likeness — face shape, fur texture, eye position — clearly enough to be recognisably your pet. For the most detail, a clean forward-facing portrait photo with good lighting works best. You will see a proof before we finalise anything.

Can I order this without a portrait or paw print — just text elements?
Yes. If you choose name, year, and/or short message only, no photos are needed — just include the exact text in your order email and we will proceed straight to making. Turnaround time is the same.
