Pet Loss Memorial Coaster — Laser-Engraved Angel Portrait, Slate or Cork
$39.99
“They crossed over. But they are not gone — not from here, not from the room where their things still are.”
A laser-engraved pet loss memorial coaster featuring your pet’s portrait with an angel halo, their name, and the year they passed. Choose from two designs across cork and slate. Send us a photo — we create the portrait. Made by hand in Calgary, Alberta, by Michelle and Evan.
For the ones who crossed over
When a pet passes, there is a particular kind of loss that is hard to explain to anyone who has not felt it. Not just the absence of them — but the weight of the ordinary objects that remain. The food bowl. The spot on the couch. The collar on the hook. This coaster was made to sit among those things. Not to replace what is gone, but to hold it — their face, their name, the year they were here — in the room where you still feel them.
Each coaster is laser-engraved with a portrait made from a photo you send us, an angel halo above their head, and their name and year surrounding them. Two designs to choose from, each with its own quiet composition. Made by hand in Calgary by Michelle and Evan, who named their shop after two senior cats of their own and know exactly why this matters.
Choose your design

- Choose your design from the two options
Design — “Forever Love”: Your pet’s portrait with an angel halo and soft sparkle details, sitting on a cloud. “Forever” in script at the top. The year engraved on the lower left, your pet’s name on the lower right. “love” with a heart flourish at the bottom. Clean and still — a piece that feels like quiet company.
Design — “Always in Our Hearts”: Your pet’s portrait (or two pets together) framed inside an engraved circular border. Names engraved on the left and right of the portrait. Year below. “Always in Our Hearts” in italic with paw print and botanical decoration underneath. Structured and centred — a design that feels complete. - A clear photo of your pet(s)
Used to create the engraved portrait. See the photo tips below. If you are including more than one pet, a photo of them together is ideal. - Your pet’s name — exact spelling
Up to 8 characters. Engraved alongside the portrait. You can put your pet’s name or a combined name. Tell us exactly as you want it to appear. - The year
The year your pet passed. It’s also fine if you do not want to include the year. Let us know your preference and we will fit it to the design. - If you ordered a cork coaster — your preferred printing side
Cork has two sides: the flat-edge and the recessed-edge. Both engrave well. Select your preference at checkout. - If you ordered a slate coaster — your preferred shape
Slate has two shapes: the round and the square. Select your preference at checkout.
Photo tips

What works well: A clear photo where your pet is in natural light, their body and face are visible and well-defined, and they are reasonably separated from the background. Relaxed, characteristic poses engrave with the most life. Phone photos in daylight are usually excellent.
What to avoid: Photos in heavy shadow or against a very dark background where your pet blends in. Tightly cropped images that cut off part of the body. Blurry or very low-resolution photos (under 800 px on either side).
For two pets together: A photo where both pets are clearly visible and close together gives the most natural portrait composition. If you only have individual photos and would prefer a composed portrait, reach out before ordering and we will let you know what is possible.
If you are choosing between older photos: Send us two or three and we will tell you which will engrave most clearly. We understand the weight of this choice. We will take care of it.
Materials and making

Your photo is converted into a laser-ready portrait — a considered interpretation of your pet’s likeness, adjusted for the tone and scale of engraving on cork or stone. The angel halo is added as part of the design, sitting naturally above your pet’s head. All elements are then laser-engraved directly into the surface of the coaster — into the material itself — so the portrait, name, and year will not fade, peel, or wash away. Slate coasters are natural stone, sealed for moisture resistance. Cork coasters are made from natural compressed cork, warm to the touch and thick enough to protect surfaces from everyday use.
What’s included:
- One laser-engraved pet loss memorial coaster in your chosen material and design
- Basswood display easel — add-on option
Size
The round slate and cork coasters are approximately 10 cm (4″) in diameter — standard coaster size, fitting comfortably under a mug, a wine glass, or a small vase. The square slate coasters are approximately 10 × 10 cm. When propped on the basswood easel, the slate coaster stands approximately 11 cm tall — about the height of a standard tea light holder — and faces forward cleanly on a shelf or windowsill.

Sending this to someone who has recently lost a pet? It is one of the most meaningful gifts you can give in that moment — something that holds their pet’s face, their name, the year — without asking anything of the person receiving it. We include a free handwritten gift note with every order. Leave your message at checkout and we can ship directly to your recipient with no invoice enclosed. Some things just need to arrive.

Slate: wipe with a damp cloth and dry promptly — avoid prolonged soaking or dishwashers. Cork: wipe with a dry or barely damp cloth only, as sustained moisture will warp the cork over time. Both materials are sealed and designed for everyday use alongside their engraved portraits.
Because every coaster is made to order and engraved from your pet’s photo, we are unable to accept returns or exchanges. If something arrives damaged or does not match what was agreed, please reach out within 7 days with a photo — we will always make it right. Send us a message any time before or after ordering.
Questions about this piece
Can I include two pets in the portrait?
Yes — both designs accommodate one to four pets. A photo of them together is ideal. If you only have individual photos, reach out before ordering and we will let you know what is possible.
Is the angel halo included automatically?
Yes. The halo is part of the design template for all two options — added by us during portrait preparation, at no extra cost. It sits naturally above your pet’s head in the engraving.
Can I choose the year format — one year or a range?
Yes. Most customers engrave the year their pet passed (e.g. 2026). Some prefer a birth-to-passing range (e.g. 2018–2026). Some prefer put the names only instead of a year. All work across all two designs. Let us know your preference in the order.
What is the difference between the flat-edge and recessed-edge for cork?
Cork has two natural surfaces, both have the same texture. The recessed-edge looks like a holder for medium mug, it may not fit larger mug. Both accept the laser engraving clearly. If you are unsure, tell us and we will recommend the better side for your portrait.
Do you send a proof before engraving?
Yes, always. We send you a preview of the full design — portrait, halo, name, year, and layout — before we engrave anything. You can approve or request changes. For pet loss pieces especially, we take this step seriously. Nothing is finalised until you say so.
