Handmade in Calgary by pet parents, for pet parents. Named after our cats, Coffee & Cookie. 🐾
How it began
A shop born from loving them
Coffee and Cookie are 15 years old. This shop exists because of what it feels like to love them — and to know, quietly in the background of ordinary days, that you won’t have them forever.
I didn’t set out to build a memorial gift shop. I set out to spend more time with my cats — and somehow ended up building something I didn’t know I needed to build, for people I didn’t know I needed to reach.
Coffee and Cookie have been with me through every version of my adult life. Every apartment, every job change, every ordinary Tuesday that somehow becomes a memory. Coffee is the cat who will sit directly in front of your laptop screen and meow until you acknowledge her — loudly, persistently, without a trace of self-consciousness. Cookie is quieter, more considered. She has standards about her wet food that I will never fully understand and have long since stopped questioning. She decides when to sit on your lap. The honour is always hers to give.
This shop is named after them because there was never really any other name worth considering.
Watching them age has taught me something I didn’t expect: that the love between a person and their pet is its own quiet category. Often wordless. Often taken for granted, right up until the moment it isn’t. I know what anticipatory grief feels like because I live with it. I know that low, persistent ache of loving something you know you will lose, and being unable to stop the clock.
I also know what real pet loss looks like. A former roommate lost her cat without any warning. I watched how alone she felt in that grief — how quickly the world moved on, and how much she needed something tangible and handmade to hold. Something that said: this animal was real, and the love was real, and you are allowed to grieve it completely. That experience stayed with me. It became the conviction behind everything we make.
The founders (sort of)
Meet Coffee.
Meet Cookie.
They don’t do much, technically. But nothing here would exist without them.

The Needy One
Coffee
Chief Attention Officer
Coffee is the cat who will park herself directly in front of your laptop screen and meow until you look at her — not at whatever you were doing. She loves fiercely and loudly, and she has never once been embarrassed about it. She has three volumes: quiet, loud, and incredibly loud. She uses the third setting when she feels her wet food is late, which is always.
Coffee supervises every order. She has not yet offered a single constructive opinion on the engraving work, but her presence in the studio is consistent and apparently non-negotiable.

The Dignified One
Cookie
Director of Quality Standards
Cookie is the quiet one. The dignified one. The cat who has princess-level food standards and will refuse her wet food three times before deciding the fourth offering is acceptable — and even then, she’s doing you a favour. When she chooses to sit on your lap, it feels like something you’ve earned.
Cookie reviews the finished pieces from a distance. She has approved several, in the sense that she sat near them briefly before walking away. We are choosing to interpret this as a blessing.
They are named after two simple everyday comforts.
Without meaning to, they became the entire soul of this shop.
What we make
Slow work.
Honest materials.
Made by hand.
Everything is made here in our Calgary basement studio. We use a laser engraver for our wood, slate, and cork pieces — but the finishing, the packaging, the personal notes, and the photo curation are all done by hand, slowly and carefully, the way things made for grief should be.
We are not a factory. We are two people — Michelle and Evan — with one very opinionated laser engraver, two cats who supervise from the sofa, and a genuine commitment to making every single piece feel worthy of the love it’s meant to remember.

Wooden Shadow Box
Basswood, laser-engraved portrait, names & dates

Slate Memorial Coaster
Engraved portrait or lose quote, heavy and lasting

Cork Coaster
Pet portrait with name and background

Stainless Steel Earring
Handmade with natural gemstone
Why this matters to us
We know how much they meant.
Losing a pet is its own kind of grief — quieter than most, and lonelier than people expect. The world moves on quickly. The casserole dishes don’t arrive. The time off work isn’t automatic. And yet the loss is real, and the love that caused it was real, and both deserve to be honoured without apology.
We built this shop because we have two senior cats and we know exactly what it feels like to love an animal and feel the clock ticking quietly in the background of every ordinary day. We built it because a former roommate lost her cat and we saw how alone she felt. We built it because we know what it means to need something worthy of the love you shared — and we wanted to make it.
Every piece we make goes out with a progress photo update and a personal note. Not because it’s policy — because we genuinely care what happens when the box opens. If something doesn’t feel right, message us. We’d always rather fix it than have you unhappy with something made for someone you loved.
Every order includes
— Made to remember. Crafted with love.
The process
Gentle, guided,
every step of the way
We know ordering something this personal takes trust.
Here is exactly what happens after you place an order.
Choose your piece
Browse by audience or by product type. Message us before ordering if you’re not sure what’s right — we’re always happy to help with no pressure.
Before ordering, upload your pet’s photo, name, and any personalisation. We confirm every detail before we start — nothing begins without your approval.
We make your piece
You’ll see your piece design proof before it starts. If something doesn’t look right, say so — we’d rather adjust than send something you’re not completely at peace with.
Delivered with care
Your piece arrives carefully packed with a personal note from us. Every order. Without exception. Because the moment the box opens matters.
The people behind the pieces
Meet Michelle & Evan
Two people, one basement studio, two very senior cats,
and a genuine belief that handmade things made slowly are worth the wait.

Michelle
Co-founder · Operations · Cat mom
Michelle handles the operational side of the shop — shipping logistics, supplier relationships, the website, and writing the personal notes. She is also the one who answers your messages, usually very quickly, always honestly. Coffee belongs to her in the way that only a very clingy cat can belong to someone.
I made this shop because of Coffee and Cookie. Every piece I make, I’m thinking about someone who feels the same way about their animal that I feel about mine.

Evan
Co-founder · Maker · Cookie’s reluctant favourite
Evan designs and makes most of the keepsakes — running the laser engraver, selecting materials, doing the photo curation for each order, and anything that needs building or fixing. He is also, inexplicably, Cookie’s preferred lap despite the fact that Cookie is officially Michelle’s cat. Cookie has never explained this decision. We have all learned to live with it.
Cookie chose me and I had nothing to do with it. I’m just glad she approves of the packaging.
